The challenge: addressing an ECB recommendation without overwhelming the teams
Following an ECB recommendation in 2022, the bank had to ensure the reliability and industrialize the production of its Loan Tapes — a granular report on the credit portfolio, subject to short deadlines (3 weeks) and maximum quality requirements.
Before the project, production relied on manual Excel/SQL data collection for 240 metrics, ad-hoc scripts, and post-hoc controls, permanently engaging 3 FTEs — with significant human pressure (night and weekend on-call duties), high error risks, and a recurring risk of non-compliance with ECB deadlines.

Our approach: upstream control, automation, dissemination
Prime Analytics has designed a complete industrial pipeline, structured around four principles:
1. Upstream control
Data presence, completeness, and consistency verified upon collection, to avoid discovering anomalies at the end of the process.
2. Automate consolidation
Elimination of manual macros, SQL scripts, and ad-hoc files, replaced by configurable and documented Alteryx workflows.
3. Industrialize submission
Automated generation of ECB-format Loan Tapes, integrated quality controls, end-to-end traceability.
4. Distribute via Power BI
Made available to entities via interactive dashboards for business visualization and validation.
Before / After
The industrialization of Loan Tape reporting transformed a regulatory-pressured process into a controlled, reliable, and humanly sustainable production. The contrast between the historical chain and the industrialized chain illustrates the extent of the transformation, carried out in less than 10 weeks.
• Production times : reduced from 7 days to 48 to 72 hours, with a response to ECB requests within a few hours. went from 6 man-days to by report and by entity — a production ratio divided by 50.
• Analytical Coverage : moved from fragmented manual data collection to an automated consolidation across 240 metrics.
• Staffing : moved from 3 permanent FTEs and recurring on-call duties to teams freed from urgent tasks, with the elimination of late nights and weekends.
• Reliability : moved from a high risk of errors to a auditable and reproducible workflow, with integrated quality controls and full traceability.
— Beyond time savings, there's a human impact: teams no longer endure regulatory pressure; they manage it.
Loan Tape, AnaCredit, COREP, FINREP: Prime Analytics automates the data processing workflows most exposed to ECB pressure.
Automation, traceability, team empowerment: a defensible and sustainable system.
A controlled process, operated autonomously
The industrialized Loan Tape process now meets ECB deadlines without putting pressure on the teams. Production time is reduced from 7 days to 48-72 hours, the 240 metrics are automatically consolidated, and end-to-end traceability allows us to justify every figure to the regulator within hours.
Beyond immediate performance, the project has transformed the Risk function's approach: what was a constantly strained process has become a controlled system, operable autonomously by internal teams. The 3 FTEs previously constantly occupied have been redeployed to higher value-added analyses.
The system has now been extended to other prudential reporting within the bank and serves as an internal benchmark for industrializing critical processes under regulatory constraints.
Reducing from 7 days to 48 hours is more than just a gain; it's a shift in our approach to the regulator. We now meet ECB deadlines without pressure and can justify every figure.“With Prime Analytics, we were able to get this project up and running in just a few days. Their knowledge of Alteryx and their technical expertise allowed us to move quickly and obtain greater precision than we expected. This model has made us gain in reliability, speed and autonomy.”
