1. The 5 Claude plans at a glance
Anthropic offers a five-tier subscription structure. Below are the official rates for 2026, excluding applicable taxes.
Free is €0. It provides access to Claude Chat on web, mobile, and desktop, the Sonnet and Haiku models, web search, Skills, and MCP connectors. Quotas are limited but sufficient to explore the platform.
Pro is €15 per month with an annual commitment (€180 billed upfront), or €18 per month for monthly billing. It provides access to all individual tools: Claude Code, Claude Cowork, Claude Design, Claude Docs, Claude Slides, Claude Science, Claude in Chrome, Claude for Microsoft 365, unlimited projects, and the Opus model.
Max starts at €90 per month for the 5x version, with quotas five times higher than Pro. A 20x version is available for power users.
Team is our primary collaborative plan, for 2 to 150 users. Two formats are available:
- Standard Seat at €18 per seat per month with an annual commitment (€21.04 monthly)
Team includes SSO, an admin console, MCP connector access controls, enterprise search, and a guarantee that your content is not used to train our models.
Enterprise is our large-organization plan, billed in US dollars. The list price is US$20 per seat per month with an annual commitment, plus usage billed at API rates. It adds SCIM, audit logs, compliance APIs, retention controls, IP allowlisting, and HIPAA compliance.
These five plans cover the vast majority of business use cases. To go further—building a custom product, integrating Claude into an automated workflow, or deploying an agent—you should look to the Claude API, the pricing logic of which deserves its own dedicated section.
Please note: as of September 16, 2026, Claude Chat and Claude Cowork have merged into a single application, integrating Claude Docs, Slides, and Design directly into the conversation. The rollout for Pro and Max plans will take place gradually over the coming weeks.

2. The Claude API in detail
The Claude API provides direct access to Anthropic's models from any system: custom products, internal applications, automated workflows, or agents built with the Claude Agent SDK. Unlike individual or team subscriptions, it is not paid per seat but based on usage, according to the volume of tokens consumed.
Understanding the pricing logic
Every interaction with a Claude model consumes two types of tokens: input tokens (the context provided to the model: instructions, history, attached documents) and output tokens (the generated response). Both are billed separately, with output costing five times more than input. As a general rule, 1,000 tokens correspond to approximately 750 words in English.
Pricing by model in 2026
Unlike subscriptions, which are billed in euros for French customers, Anthropic's API rates are quoted and billed in US dollars, like most developer APIs on the market.
Here are the rates for the main models as of September 2026:
Concrete orders of magnitude
To make these rates tangible:
Optimization mechanisms
Two official mechanisms allow for drastic reductions in your bill once usage is industrialized.
Prompt caching reduces the cost of input tokens by approximately 90% for context portions reused across requests. In practical terms, on Sonnet 3.5, a cache read token is billed at $0.20 / MTok compared to $2 / MTok for standard input, making it ten times cheaper. This applies to system instructions, reference documents, and examples provided with each call. For a workflow that calls an agent a thousand times a day with the same 20,000 tokens of instructions, the monthly savings amount to hundreds of dollars.
Batch processing offers a 50% discount on requests processed asynchronously when latency is not critical (overnight processing, batch analysis, periodic report generation). This is particularly relevant for industrial workflows that do not require sub-second response times.
Combined, these two mechanisms allow for substantial savings on industrialized workflows without any loss in quality.
Billing and terms
API fees are billed by Anthropic in US dollars, via credit card or prepaid credits. For high-volume usage or enterprise contexts, invoicing in euros via bank transfer is available through the Enterprise program, with options for volume discounts and multi-year commitments.
When to choose the API over a subscription
The API is the right choice in three situations: you integrate Claude into a product that you distribute to your customers, you automate a business workflow with Claude as a central component, or you build an agent with the Claude Agent SDK. In all other cases, a Team or Enterprise subscription remains more economical and easier to govern.
3. What really drives cost variation
The listed price only tells part of the story. In practice, three factors determine the real cost of a Claude deployment.
Number of active users. This is the most obvious factor, but also the most poorly assessed. Many organizations buy seats for everyone and discover after six months that a portion of them aren't using them. Conversely, others under-provision, creating frustration that leads to shadow AI.
Usage intensity. A user who asks three questions a day has different needs than a developer running Claude Code for several hours or an analyst executing Cowork on large volumes. Pro quotas are sufficient for most standard users; power users are typically candidates for Max or a Premium seat on a Team plan.
Enabled features. SSO, connector governance, enterprise search, and the non-use of your data for training: these features are not included in Pro. They only appear starting with the Team plan, which mechanically triggers a move to this offering as soon as an organization takes the subject seriously.

4. Four concrete cases
To make things tangible, here are four typical profiles we regularly encounter among our clients.
Case 1: A productive independent consultant. A Pro user at €15 per month billed annually, or €180 per year. They use Claude Chat daily, Projects to structure their assignments, and Cowork occasionally for synthesis tasks. The return on investment is achieved in just a few hours of time saved per month.
Case 2: A 10-person consulting firm team. Team Standard for the 8 standard users, i.e., 8 seats at €18 annually = €144 per month. The two power users (senior analysts who use Cowork for high-volume tasks) take a Premium seat at €90 × 2 = €180 per month. Total: €324 per month, or €3,888 per year. Each consultant has access to all components, the admin can share Skills and Projects, and billing is unified.
Case 3: An industrial SME with 100 employees. The simple multiplication approach—“100 seats at €18 = €1,800 per month”—is an approximation that doesn't hold up in reality. At this scale, several parameters come into play.
First, the mix of seat types. A majority of employees will use Claude as a standard productivity tool (Team Standard). A minority of power users (analysts, developers, management, marketing) will justify a Premium seat. For illustration, an indicative mix of 70 Standard seats and 30 Premium seats leads to a base cost of approximately €4,000 per month (70×18 + 30×90 = €3,960), or €48,000 per year, before any other costs.
Next, onboarding and training. Moving 100 people beyond the occasional chatbot stage requires a real adoption strategy: initial scoping, team training, and usage governance. These services are negotiated on a case-by-case basis depending on the size of the cohorts and the level of ambition.
Finally, MCP integrations and management. Connecting Claude to your ERP, reporting tools, and document management systems requires several man-days depending on the number of connectors. Added to this is the implementation of governance (roles, permissions, and usage dashboards).
For an SME with 100 employees, a structured Claude deployment represents a total budget that must be scoped project by project, where the recurring component (subscriptions) is only the visible half. The support and enablement component, often equivalent to the subscription cost in the first year, is what makes the difference between a successful deployment and a tool that remains underutilized.
Case 4: A large banking group. Here, simple multiplication logic no longer applies at all. An enterprise deployment at this scale is a negotiated contract, where the per-seat price depends on several variables: the number of users, the commitment term (one, three, or five years), security requirements (banking = high level), enabled features (HIPAA, sovereign cloud, data residency), SLA guarantees, and the level of support (Standard, Premium, or dedicated).
In addition to the list price of US$20 per seat per month, the following are always added:
In practical terms, a deployment for several thousand users in a bank amounts to millions of euros in the first year and is structured over several years, with a split between licenses, Anthropic consumption, and support that varies based on the organization's data maturity. Each contract is negotiated individually, and actual price ranges are not public.
Return on investment is measured at the program level over several years, through productivity gains across business departments and the rationalization of legacy tools.

5. Cost vs. gains
A common mistake is to focus solely on subscription costs without considering the productivity benefits. However, in most of the deployments we support, the return on investment is overwhelmingly positive once usage is structured.
Gains typically come from three sources: time saved on repetitive, low-value tasks (research, summarizing, formatting, checking), augmented capacity for teams on projects where human analysis alone was limited by time or workload, and the rationalization of tools that become redundant with Claude (writing assistants, internal search engines, monitoring tools).
We consistently observe that the €90 monthly cost of a Team Premium seat pays for itself within the first or second hour of work saved each month.
6. Pitfalls to avoid
Five pitfalls frequently appear in projects where costs spiral out of control or value fails to materialize.
Individual under-provisioning. Staying on Free or Pro plans to save €15 per month per person deprives your teams of the quotas needed for serious work. Users who get blocked after an hour of use will give up and return to their old tools.
Collective over-provisioning. Buying Team Premium for everyone when a significant portion of users doesn't have needs that justify that level. A well-balanced Standard/Premium mix represents substantial savings compared to a uniform Premium deployment, with equivalent service quality.
Shadow AI. Users who, lacking an official license, sign up for personal subscriptions on their own credit cards and use them with professional data. The cost is diffuse, but the legal and security risks are real.
Subscription overlap. Some organizations pay for Copilot, ChatGPT Enterprise, and Claude Team simultaneously without having evaluated them. An annual mapping of AI tools is essential once you exceed a few dozen users.
Failure to measure gains. Without business-side productivity indicators, no finance department will be able to justify a renewal or expansion.
7. How to control costs
The right approach is not to minimize costs at all costs, but to align the setup with the value created. Three practices structure a controlled deployment.
Plan before deploying. Identify the profiles that will benefit the most, define appropriate seat levels, and formalize priority use cases. A two-to-four-week planning phase often prevents months of aimless activity and over-provisioning.
Monitor consumption. Set up a usage dashboard (active users, tokens consumed, active projects) and share it with business units. Organizations that don't measure their usage cannot optimize it.
Review regularly. Reconfigure seats quarterly based on actual usage, move occasional users to Team Standard and power users to Team Premium, and deactivate inactive seats. Active management leads to measurable savings by the second year.

9. FAQ · How much does Claude cost for businesses?
How much does Claude Pro cost in France in 2026?
Claude Pro is €15 per month with an annual commitment (€180 billed upfront) or €18 per month with monthly billing. This plan includes Claude Code, Cowork, Design, Docs, Slides, Science, Claude in Chrome, access to the Opus model, and unlimited projects.
What is the difference between Claude Pro and Claude Max?
Claude Pro is intended for standard individual use. Claude Max multiplies usage quotas by five (Max 5x, starting at €90/month) or by twenty (Max 20x, higher rate), for power users such as developers who use Claude Code for several hours a day.
What is the difference between Claude Team and Claude Enterprise?
Team is the collaborative plan for 2 to 150 users, starting at €18 per seat per month. Enterprise is the large-organization plan, billed starting at US$20 per seat per month plus API usage, with additional enterprise-grade security and compliance features (SCIM, audit logs, compliance API, HIPAA).
How much does a Claude deployment cost for a team of 10?
Approximately €144 per month for Team Standard (8 seats at €18 with an annual commitment). If two power users take a Premium seat at €90, the total rises to €324 per month, or €3,888 per year.
How much does the Claude API cost to use?
Rates are charged per million tokens (MTok) and vary by model: Haiku 3.5 at $1/MTok input and $5/MTok output, Sonnet 3.5 at $3/MTok and $15/MTok, Opus 3 at $15/MTok and $75/MTok. Two mechanisms can help reduce costs: prompt caching (up to 90% discount on reused input tokens) and batch processing (50% discount on asynchronous tasks).
Can I pay for Claude based on usage rather than a subscription?
Yes, via the Claude API. This format is suited for integrations into a product, an automated workflow, or an agent built with the Claude Agent SDK. For standard individual or team use, a Team or Enterprise subscription remains more cost-effective and easier to manage.
Is Claude more or less expensive than ChatGPT or Copilot?
Pricing is generally in the same ballpark (around €15 to €25 per user per month for individual plans, and around €20 to €30 for Business team plans). The question of comparative cost is rarely the deciding factor; what matters more is how well it fits your use cases and the depth of the ecosystem.
Can I fund Claude through an OPCO?
No, software subscriptions are not eligible for OPCO funding. However, training on how to use Claude—such as our "Getting Started with Claude in the Enterprise" course—is eligible for OPCO funding thanks to our Qualiopi certification.
Is my company data used to train the models?
No, not by default starting with the Team plan. For Free and Pro plans, you can opt out in the settings. On Enterprise, additional controls (retention, allowlists, HIPAA) are available.
How can I estimate the ROI of Claude?
The simplest calculation is: number of users × time saved per month × fully loaded hourly cost. In most deployments we see, saving one to two hours per user per month is enough to cover the cost of a Team seat. Beyond that, the organization is creating net value.
Should I start with Team or Enterprise?
It depends on your size and security requirements. Team is suitable for up to 150 users and standard security needs. Enterprise becomes essential when you require granular permission management, audit logs, industry-specific compliance (such as banking or healthcare), or have more than 150 users.
