The challenge: a mosaic of tools for 2,000 management controllers spread across the globe
Managing direct costs, allocated costs, and headcount for a large international banking group is an exercise of considerable complexity. Multiple business lines, dozens of countries, dozens of accounting, HR, and management data sources — each with its own rhythm, format, and reference system.
For our client, the situation was structural: high operational risk due to intensive manual work, a lack of visibility on allocated costs, an absence of a global reconciliation process, and reports produced in silos by each business line. Central adjustments were particularly opaque, which weakened management's decision-making.
The challenge was not just to produce faster. It was to produce better, everywhere, with the same methodology — to enable general management to make decisions based on reliable data, at the group level and in a timely manner.

Our conviction: a single platform, not a consolidated toolbox
Modernizing the financial management of a group of this size cannot be solved by simply adding a new tool on top of existing ones. Prime Analytics proposed an industrial approach: designing a single, integrated, and automated platform for cost and headcount reporting and analysis, deployed in successive batches, from a pilot phase to global coverage.
Four principles guided the design:
1. Centralization of execution capabilities
A single production chain, shared by all the group's Finance and Management Control teams.
2. Architecture standardization
Process consistency, data traceability, end-to-end auditability.
3. Standardization of Reference Data
A cost or headcount defined consistently across the entire group.
4. Significant Investment in Teams
60% of the budget for development, 40% for training, support, and governance — reflecting a strong ambition for sustainable empowerment.
Before / After
The contrast between the existing system and the target platform illustrates the scale of the transformation, implemented in successive phases until global deployment.
• Reporting Production: shifted from a patchwork of manual tools and siloed reports to a single, automated platform, updated daily. went from 6 man-days to by report and by entity — a production ratio divided by 50.
• Data Reconciliation: moved from a lack of a global process to end-to-end reconciliation integrated into the calculation engine, with full traceability.
• Finance Team Productivity: shifted from spending most of their time on data collection and correction to saving thousands of person-days, with teams refocused on analysis.
• Leadership Oversight: moved from a fragmented view of costs to a consolidated global view, with shared and defensible KPIs.
• Autonomy of financial controllers: shifted from a strong reliance on a few experts to direct data access for everyone, without intermediaries.
— A transformation built for the long run: the client now operates this platform autonomously, and extends it to new scopes as the journey progresses.

Scoping, automation, training: an end-to-end partnership.
A single platform, operated autonomously by the client
In just a few years, the client transitioned from fragmented reporting production to an integrated chain, deployed across all its business lines and geographies. Data is refreshed daily, the audit trail covers all allocated costs and headcount, and management controllers directly access the indicators they need to manage their scope.
Beyond immediate performance, the client now has a platform that they operate and evolve autonomously — and which they are now extending to new analytical scopes.
By transitioning from a patchwork of tools to a single platform, we gained in consistency, reliability, and time. Prime Analytics' support was instrumental. Beyond the tool itself, they structured a methodology, trained our teams, and established a true data culture within our Finance departments.“With Prime Analytics, we were able to get this project up and running in just a few days. Their knowledge of Alteryx and their technical expertise allowed us to move quickly and obtain greater precision than we expected. This model has made us gain in reliability, speed and autonomy.”
