Digitizing Maritime Operations: 5 Data Projects Serving Naval Defense

Since 2020, Prime Analytics has been supporting a French group specializing in maritime services and naval robotics in the digitalization of its operations. Five specific projects — ranging from remote-controlled vessel supervision systems to radar simulation, including HR automation and contract management — demonstrate a lasting partnership at the intersection of data expertise and critical maritime technologies.

The challenge: connecting embedded systems to modern analytical platforms

The client operates in some of the most demanding environments — supervising remotely operated vessels on the high seas, operating marine drones, offshore operations, and dual-use civil/defense projects. In these contexts, system reliability, real-time data quality, and decision traceability are not optional.

The challenge was to connect embedded systems — sensors, radars, cameras, GPS — to modern analytical platforms, in order to remotely supervise operations, anticipate failures, and industrialize business processes (HR, invoicing, contracting) across the group.

Our approach: connecting field data to operational decision-making

Five projects have been carried out since 2020, all following the same logic.

1. Remote supervision of a remotely operated vessel

Centralization of navigation data (GPS, gyros, cameras, consumption) and real-time supervision via Power BI, from a remote control center.

2. Analytical interfaces for marine drones

Utilization of onboard sensors, performance indicators (covered areas, consumption, availability), real-time multi-sensor visualization (Power BI Embedded, Azure Synapse, REST API).

3. Automated HR contract management

HR calculation simulator to automate the processing of allowances (leave, precariousness, end of mission) across the group's various entities.

4. Financial tracking and invoicing

Streamlining of flows, customer payment tracking, analytical integration for management control.

5. Digitalization of contract management

Power Automate/Power BI workflows, fleet availability dashboards, MTBF, costs per mission. This also includes a maritime radar simulation demonstrator for R&D and internal training.

Before / After

Five projects in five years have transformed data management in critical maritime environments — from naval supervision to back-office processes. The contrast between the historical chain and the industrialized chain illustrates the extent of the transformation, carried out in less than 10 weeks.

• Naval supervision : transitioned from local ship control to real-time remote supervision, from a remote control center. went from 6 man-days to by report and by entity — a production ratio divided by 50.

• Drone sensor exploitation : transitioned from unutilized data to a consolidated real-time multi-sensor visualization, operational decision support.

• HR processes : transitioned from manual compensation processing to an automated system , standardized across the group.

• Contract management : transitioned from fragmented tracking to automated dashboards on fleet availability, MTBF, and mission costs.

A rare expertise: data + critical environments

Over five years of partnership, Prime Analytics has delivered five projects covering naval supervision, drone sensor operation, HR process automation, financial tracking, and the digitalization of contract management. Each project connected a new facet of the client's operations to a modern analytical platform, with a measurable impact on operational steering and productivity.

Beyond individual deliverables, the partnership showcases a rare expertise: the ability to design, industrialize, and operate data solutions in critical environments — where reliability, security, and sovereignty are non-negotiable.

This solid foundation, built project after project, paves the way for new developments — predictive AI for maintenance, intelligent supervision, augmented simulation and training — serving European defense and aerospace stakeholders.

Connecting our marine sensors to real-time dashboards has transformed our approach to operational data.“With Prime Analytics, we were able to get this project up and running in just a few days. Their knowledge of Alteryx and their technical expertise allowed us to move quickly and obtain greater precision than we expected. This model has made us gain in reliability, speed and autonomy.”
